Chippendale-style cherry clothes press, pine and chestnut secondary woods; two-part case, two-door upper section with molded cornice, interior shelves; four graduated drawers in lower section; ogee bracket feet; brass escutcheons and pulls; "LHF" inscribed on backboard.
Inscribed on backboard: "LHF"
History of ownership in the Fordham-Corwin families of Sag Harbor, NY and North Haven, NY.
An identical wardrobe is in the collection of the East Hampton Historical Society. Both wardrobes were probably originally made for Lyman Beecher (1775-1863) in 1806 or 1809 by Nathaniel Dominy V (1770–1842).
