Tall clock

Made for Miller Dayton (1766-1847) of East Hampton, this was the most costly clock recorded in the account books of Nathaniel Dominy IV. Featuring an eight-day and striking movement, repeater mechanism, and an alarm of Dominy design, the enamel dial was imported from the Birmingham, England firm of Thomas Osbourne (Osborn). Interestingly, the clock was repurchased by Nathaniel Dominy VII in 1857 and sold again in 1910 to Felix Dominy VIII, in whose family it descended.
